OPP say a Peterborough driver involved a crash Tuesday night had nearly five times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
Around 5 p.m. Peterborough County OPP and emergency crews were called to a single-vehicle crash on County Road 4 near the Douro Seventh Line in Douro-Dummer Township, just outside Peterborough’s east boundary.
Police say the 44-year-old male driver was found to be “extremely intoxicated.”
“Luckily no one was injured in the collision,” police stated.
The driver — whose name was not released — has been charged with impaired driving and driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
He is scheduled to appear in court in Peterborough on Nov. 23.
OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol: use a designated driver, utilized a cab or public transit or stay overnight.
“Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgments,” police stated.
