The Willow Beach Field Naturalist Club
is having a canoe outing on the Otonabee River, Sunday, July 18, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. This canoe-hike is for canoe enthusiasts or even for those who have not experienced a canoe but would love to be in one. For this expedition there will be experienced paddlers amongst the group. This canoe-hike will last 2 to 3 hours and will explore the wetland and shoreline along this stretch of river.
Directions: Follow Highway 28 north to Whitfield Rd. (Fraserville). Turn right (east) on Whitfield Road and follow to the end at the public boat launch. For more info call 905-885-2337.
July 14th Mental Health Awareness Anti-Stigma Day
The Schizophrenia Society of Ontario (SSO) will be hosting a Mental Health Awareness Day on July 14th in Confederation Park (across from City Hall) from 12-4pm. There will be fun trivia and prizes to give away as well as free snacks, drinks and freezies to help you beat the heat. This is the first year the event is running and it is hoped that it will become an annual event that will grow over the years
The Schizophrenia Society of Ontario is an organization providing family education, support, and advocacy on behalf of people and families affected by schizophrenia. SSO leads the way in Ontario in raising awareness about this illness and works to eliminate the stigma surrounding it.
Bancroft & District Minor Hockey

Hastings Legion Picnic
Sunday July 18, 2010, Crowley Park, 12:00 pm on. There will be a BBQ of hamburgers and hotdogs, pop and chips. There will be games, horseshoes and a dunk tank. Bring your lawn chairs and coolers. Come out and enjoy the fun.
