New Alice In Chains

Monday, September 07, 2009

The new Alice In Chains Album is set for release on Sept. 29th.  It's called Black Gives Way To Blue and features new Chains lead man William Duval.  Of course former Alice In Chains lead man Layne Staley died of a drug overdose in 2002 (oddly enough he died on the same date that Kurt Cobain died in 1994, April 5th).

Anyhow, from what I've heard from the new album, it sounds like Alice In Chains through and through.  No new updated sound, no new production effects, just hard rockin' Alice In Chains.  Which I think is what Alice In Chains fans would be looking for.  As always, Jerry Cantrell has done most of the song writing on the album, which is probably why it sounds so much like the old Alice In Chains.  I don't think Jerry Cantrell can write any other style of music then standard Alice In Chains fare.  But that's cool with me.

They have some of the stuff from the new album posted up on their website www.aliceinchains.com  if you want to check it out.

So why am I so interested in Grunge music you may ask? (you probably didn't, but I'll tell you anyways), I'm a child of that generation, so there you go.  Plus I'm part of a Grunge tribute show called THE GRUNGE PROJECT: A TRIBUTE TO GRUNGE.  We did a show in June at the Market Hall here in Peterborough (thank you to all of you that came out), and if you are in Hamilton on Sept. 25, drop by McMaster University and check us out.  That's the next scheduled Grunge Project show, and hopefully we will be bringing it back to Peterborough in November.
