I enjoy watching the NHL, sure, but if you want to see great hockey just watch one Team Canada game at the 2010 World Junior Tournament in Saskatoon. That's hockey! So far, we're 2-0 with a 16-0 victory over the hapless Latvians and a 6-0 (score not indicative of the domination) win against Switzerland yesterday. Another game scheduled for this evening versus Slovakia. Tonight's game will be the first real test for the young Canucks.
I do wonder why the IIHF even bothers to invite these countries (Latvia, Austria) who aren't known for being "hockey nations" and cannot compete at the same level as Canada, Russia, Sweden, Finland or the United States. To make them better? To fill out schedule demands?
Who knows, but I love watching team Canada's forwards pad their stats against em'... Next time we play a crappy country, try a drinking game. Take a shot every time Canada scores or if you're hardcore go for a shot every time Canada takes one! Chances are you'll barely make it past the 1st period.
Cheers... Eh O' Canada, Go!
