No Hi-Def For Me...

Monday, October 26, 2009

Week 7 of the NFL was a much better one for me than Week 6.  After going 1-5 last week, I kinda redeemed myself this week by going 4-2.  Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Houston and Dallas all won for me.  Carolina and the Giants did not.  But it gets my season record back to .500 at 16-16.

I gotta tell you I was looking forward to watching Sunday's Pittsburgh-Minnesota game on a new, 46-inch Hi-def TV.  Instead, I saw a thrilling fourth quarter on 27-glorious-inches of standard definition.  We were this close to buying a fancy new set at that big Kawartha TV & Stereo sale on the weekend and somehow walked away with nothing.  I acted like a mature adult and didn't let my want outweigh my need.  I'm pregnant and there's a ton of stuff that needs to be done around our house before the new addition arrives this winter.  You know, the stuff that wasn't finished before our daughter arrived five years ago!  But the thing is I really, really want a new TV.  I know there's nothing wrong with the one we have.  It's actually a phenomenal television.  Some pregnant women are craving pickles and ice cream right now.  But I'm craving watching Wolverine in 1080p on Blu-Ray.  Is that weird?  Is it too much to ask to wanna watch the Leafs lose in Hi-def?

The funny thing about this new TV is it was one of those energy saving sets that has a motion detector and turns off if you, say, fall asleep with it on.  If there's no movement in the room for a certain amount of time it shuts off.  We could have used that this weekend.  I fell asleep on the couch Saturday night and my husband on Sunday.  He only woke up when I went to leave for work this morning.  Imagine all those cents we could have saved on our next hydro bill!

Maybe if I'm a really good girl Santa will leave me one under the Christmas tree.  Don't forget the Blu-Ray, PVR  and Wii, ok?
