I was checking some "Best Videos Of All-time" lists the other day and found this one from Stylus magazine listing its top 100 vids.   The list is a couple of years old but my three absolute faves (one from each decade of my video-watching life) were in their top five.  These videos stand the test of time.

Best of the 80's...

Ya, I know, they were basically a one-hit wonder in North America but what a hit it was.  It may have been because I was nine-years-old and Video Hits was the absolute coolest show on TV but I think that lead singer Morten Harket was my first true "crush."  Of course I did have to look up his name just now and I'm pretty sure I didn't know what it was in 1985 either but he was dreamy in both real-life and comic book version.

90's Fave...

Obviously my musical tastes had changed a little by the 90's.  I spent hours trying to figure what that guy on the ground was saying.  And though I'm still dying to know, the guys from Radiohead are right - knowing would lessen the impact of the video.

Best Of This Decade (and my all-time favourite)...

There's no competition.  The Man In Black took someone else's, extremely personal and revealing song and made it more his than Trent Reznor's.  The song itself is haunting but to watch the video is truly breathtaking.  Never has a video been more personal.  It's haunting.  Watching his trembling hand pour the wine and hearing that piano pick up in the last part of the song.  Chills every time.
