Flower Power

Horticulturists are getting flower boners over the amorphophallus titanum, also known as titan arum.

It's a flower native to the rainforests of Sumatra, and for the first time in Canada, and only the 151st time in the world, the flower is set to bloom in an artificial environment.

The interesting thing about the tatan arum is that it's the tallest flower in the world. The one at the Floral Showhouse in Niagara Falls, which is set to bloom this week, is already 7.5 feet tall, and it only sprouted in March.

Besides the fact that the titan arum looks kind of like a... biggus dickus.

It also smells like rotting meat.

Yes, another name for the titan arum is the corpse flower.

The plants attracts meat-eatings beetles and flies which pollinate it. The colour, smell, and even temperature give off the vibe that the plant is actually meat.

WEIRD, RIGHT?
