Shitty & Shallow Playoff Predictions -- Part 2
Yesterday, I matched up some players and made my first round NHL playoff predictions for last night's games.
And I'll do it again.
First head-to-head is Ottawa and New York.
I think this one will be a tie. Nahh, let's say Sens in 6.
Remember, I base my picks on the weather and my desire to see a Canadian team make it through to the second round. Otherwise, the Sens honk.
I have a soft spot for Jason Spezza. I liked him growing up and actually met him one time. He was goofy and sweet. We traded hats. That's a story for another day.
I'll pin him up against defensemen Dan Girardi, who I'd also like to pin up against me.
Moving onto the Sharks vs. the Blues.
I pick San Jose in 6 because there's nothing cooler than skating out of a shark's mouth.
And for the head-to-head, let's go with Logan Couture because he was picked last for the NHL All-Star game and I guess I feel bad for him.
For the Blues, I pick Alex Pietrangelo.
Because I like his name. It's a two-fer.
In the Caps and Bruins series, I take Boston in 5.
For the Bruins, I choose David Krejci. I like his smile.
And I gotta go with Ovechkin. He has a nice smile, too, if you don't like teeth.
For the Blackhawks and Coyotes series, I'll take Chicago for the sweep.
And for the head-to-head, a couple of Rays.
And Ray Emery.
The final match-ip in my one-woman hockey pool is between the Devils and Panthers.
And I have to go with Florida in however many games it takes to win. It's a family thing.
So for the Panthers, let's take goalie, Jose Theodore.
And I used to have a bit of an unhealthy crush on Petr Sykora (don't ask), so he's my pick for the Devils, circa the year 2000.
Alright, your turn. How do my picks stack up against yours?
