Why JUNO Like It?

This weekend for me was, once again dedicated to great Canadian music.

I know people groan over the Junos, but I love them. I think everyone should be pumped about our vast music scene and get excited that we have an awards show that brings people together and rewards the incredible talent in this country.
The Junos, and the music scene in general is far from perfect.
Some are snubbed.
Some are powered by teen girl squads.
Some are Christmas albums.
The music industry can be a cold, heartless bitch, but it's also an industry I love, and it has little to do with statues.
Unless it's this one of the Queen on a horse.

But hey, aside from the actual awards, the City of Ottawa was bumping, and there was a whole slew of amazing bands and artists in town to help Canada celebrate.
It's been a while since I've visted our Nation's Capital.

Beautiful place -- open-air markets, great restaurants, bars, patios and shopping.

Also a bunch of old friends.

So let's get to the awards.
MY awards.
Best dressed/cutest acceptance is three-way tie.
Feist, who won for Artist of the Year and Adult Alternative Album looked gorgeous in this lacy red dress that showed way better leg than Angelina, in my opinion. What a bod!

Dragonette who won for Dance Recording of the Year is the epitome of adorable.

And I'm going to be THAT person. I've liked Dragonette for a while now.
Dan Mangan, who won for New Artist of the Year and Alternative Album was pretty cute too.

Best bodysuit goes to this brand new chick.

Best cleavage went to Aleesia's twins.

And my super fan moment of the night was when Sarah Mclachlan sang Lost Together with Blue Rodeo -- who were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't daydream about being a female vocalist on that album when I was younger (and now, too).
Bands I saw this weekend who did not get JUNO nods this year, but are still #1 in my heart are:
Monster Truck, Hollerado, Gentlemen Husbands, Fucked Up, The Suburbians and The Ascot Royals.

Till next year!
