Alex Lifeson admits Rush need to take a day off after each three-hour show. He says, "we're much more conservative than we used to be – not that we were crazy party guys. We don't work consecutive gigs any more. Those off-days are truly recovery days, especially for Geddy and Neil. Geddy tends to get up at 1pm and doesn't talk, so he can rest his voice. We'll go for dinner together – it's pretty subdued with a nice meal and a glass of wine. We're going to be 60 this year so we have to look after ourselves."

Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi: "We waited a long time for Bill"

Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi is sharing his thoughts on drummer Bill Ward's decision not to participate in the band's reunion album and tour.

“I was shocked,” Iommi says. “We were hearing stuff from lawyers, like, ‘I’m not happy with this. I’m not happy with that.’ We waited a long time for Bill and we wanted to sort it out. But at the end of the day, especially after I was diagnosed, I thought, F***ing hell, that’s it. We’ve got to get a move on. I might pop off next year! So I emailed him and said, ‘Bill, we can’t wait any longer. We’ve got to get on with it.’ And that was it.”

Richie Sambora: "Jon wants to see if he can pull off stadiums by himself"

Earlier this week, Jon Bon Jovi seemed to suggest that substance issues were behind Richie Sambora's absence from Bon Jovi's current tour.

Now, Sambora says, "My opinion is Jon wants to see if he can pull off stadiums by himself. He’s making it very difficult for me to come back. Enough with the trash-talking – Jon needs to stop talking about me publicly. I am fine, working very hard on my fashion company, and this is a private matter. I don’t have any major problems in my life right now.”

"I love my fans and I feel bad for them at the moment," the guitarist adds. "They’ve paid money to see Bon Jovi, and, right now, they’re not getting the whole deal."

R.I.P. Uriah Heep/David Bowie bassist Trevor Bolder

Trevor Bolder, best known for playing bass as a member of Uriah Heep and David Bowie's band, has died of cancer at the age of 62.

Earlier this year he announced what was hoped to be a temporary absence as a result of surgery. He later said, "I had pancreas cancer so I had to have that removed. Not the entire pancreas; but still, it was bad news. They've cut out the bad bit. I've had a bit of chemo, got to have that, which I'm doing now, in case there's anything hanging about. Once that's done, I should be back to doing what I do for a living."

A statement from Uriah Heep reads: “Trevor was an all-time great – one of the outstanding musicians of his generation, and one of the finest and most influential bass players Britain ever produced.
His long time membership of Uriah Heep brought the band’s music, and Trevor’s virtuosity and enthusiasm, to hundreds of thousands of fans across the world.”

Bowie has released a brief statement of his own, saying: “Trevor was a wonderful musician and a major inspiration for whichever band he was working with. But he was foremostly a tremendous guy, a great man.”
