The Wolf’s Sticks and Skins Weekend saluting rock’s greatest drummers and most memorable beats continues today
The Who’s Keith Moon was not only known for his outstanding drumming skills but he loved destroying things.
Moon’s favourite stunt was to flush explosives down toilets. It began in 1965 when he purchased a case of 500 cherry bombs. He moved from cherry bombs to M-80 fireworks then to sticks of dynamite.
He also loved to plant cherry bombs in his drum kit and blow it up at the end of Who concerts.
One show in particular…he went a little too far and the rest of the guys in the band were not happy. (In fact Pete Townsend claimed that as a result of that explosion he was left permanently deaf in one ear)
