I didn’t have the chance to go see Metallica last night in Toronto, though everything I’ve heard and read about it says that it was a great success and a whole lot of fun. Those of you who went, I hope you had a good time.
Based on the video Metallica posted on their YouTube channel, it looks like they enjoyed their time in Toronto too. Have a look:
Mind you, it appears they’ve been posting these videos from just about every city they visit. You can see the one they did for Quebec City a bit further down.
Metallica have been doing some cool things with their website to allow superfans to get even closer to the band. Did you know that you can purchase recordings from each of their live shows at LiveMetallica.com?
They’ve also been doing live webcasts from their Tuning Room – the room they do their warmups in before they hit the stage. Usually you have to be logged in on their website and watch these webcasts live (from what I can gather), but there’s a YouTube user who has been recording them and putting them up on YouTube… So here, check out Metallica warming up for their Toronto show!
Most of the first two are bassist Robert Trujillo warming up.
Seems like they screw around just as much in their rehearsal space as my friends and I do in my parents’ basement when we get together to jam.
Before last night’s visit to the Rogers Centre, Metallica was in Quebec City for the Festival d’ete de Quebec. Given the beauty of that historic city, I thought you might want to see the highlight’s from the band’s perspective with their Thank You video:
I also thought this wicked timelapse of 100K+ people filtering into and out of the festival grounds for Metallica was pretty cool, so have a look at it as well:
And here a sample of the excellent photos our friend Michael Hurcomb took at that show:
The next tour stop for Metallica brings them back to Quebec for a show at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal on Wednesday.
