We’ve all been to that party. The one where the band is cooking and the neighborhood buzzkill can’t get their beauty sleep so they call in a noise complaint and the police show up. These situations can sometimes get confrontational and end up in hundreds of dollars in fines for the offending party. This isn’t one of those situations.
Tom Bjelic, a Mississauga homeowner was allowed his 15 year old son to have a birthday party in the backyard. He also allowed his son to have his band play on the deck. They thought the party was over when a police cruiser pulled up to their house and two officers approached the residence but to their surprise, the officers just asked them to turn down the amps a little and left the party.
But then the partygoers got an even bigger shock when the same cops came back later, not with a noise violation but with a request: One of the officers wanted to jam! And he kicked ass on the kit!
The Twitter universe liked it…
These cops represent everything that’s right with Community Policing. The partygoers respected that the officers were there to do their job and the officers repaid that respect in-kind. I posted this because the majority of postings I see of the police on social media are of police officers in a negative situation. And don’t get me wrong, the cops that do bad things should be punished by the same law that punishes civillians, but in my experience, there’s a lot more of these good cops out there than society gives them credit for.
