When you live in a place that is under the cover of snow 5 months out of the year (and considerably longer in other parts of the country), you really gotta figure out something to keep yourself entertained in that time.
That must be one of the reasons Canadians love hockey so much.
Facing that snowy wasteland day-in and day-out also must have been what inspired Joseph-Armand Bombardier, the Canadian widely credited as the inventor of the snowmobile, to create his machine to get around in the white stuff.
Pardon the mispronunciation of Bombardier’s name – I get the impression whoever created that video might not be familiar with the French language.
While Bombardier created the snowmobile to solve the problem of motorized transportation in deep snow, I wonder if he envisioned his invention being used by daredevils (or just not-so-bright men) to see how far they can jump. Either way, that’s a thing these days.
Larry Enticer is one such daredevil (or not-so-bright man), who just lives to ride his 1979 Yamaha 340 Enticer.
He also likes jumping said sled, sometimes over dangerous obstacles.
Don’t worry, there’s a few videos of Larry doing his thing around, too… Like this one:
Even if there’s barely any snow, he doesn’t let that stand between him and some fresh brewskis.
Of course, the brewskis are a very important part of preparing for a huge backyard snowmobile jump.
For some more awesome footage from Larry’s Jump of Denim, go HERE, but make sure the kiddies aren’t around because, as you can imagine, there’s a little profanity involved.
Something tells me that jump didn’t go quite the way he had intended it, because it looks as though he gave ‘er another go… And it still didn’t go so well:
I think my favourite part of that jump, however, is the excellent POV footage that came from the GoPro strapped on his head:
There’s a reason why VICE has declared Larry Enticer Canada’s Number One Hoser.
This guy sure does remind me a lot of some of my other favourite Canadian rednecks, Ray and the 1puglife crew, out of Rodney, Ontario. Watch Ray put Evel Knievel to shame HERE. And check out Ray’s last jump HERE. (Again, profanity warning)
If that doesn’t inspire you to go out and create some mechanical mayhem of your own, I don’t know what will!
