Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Joe Biagini is a guy who most Jays fans had probably never heard of before he was picked up the club as a Rule 5 Draft Pick over the offseason. As part of the rules surrounding the draft, Biagini had to stay on the Major League roster for the entire season, or the San Francisco Giants (where he came from) could claim him back.
So I mean, if you’re required to be on the big league roster all year, might as well have a hell of a season to make it worthwhile, right? I mean, when the first strikeout of your Major League career comes against David Ortiz, that’s a sign of good things to come:
Despite his efforts, Biagini struggled all season to get any sort of love from his teammates – being rejected props in the dugout…
Again and again…
He even struggled to get any sort of love from Sportsnet report Arash Madani, who gives me the impression he’s not too into hugging.
Although he and Barry Davis seem to always get along well…
As the Jays pushed on into the playoffs, Biagini did finally get some recognition from fellow reliever Brett Cecil, who apparently owes Joe a dinner or two.

Now that the offseason is in full swing, Biagini had a chance to visit The Tonight Show as a member of the audience. As is custom with Jimmy Fallon, at the end of the show, he ran up the stairs high-fiving everyone as he passed by.
Everyone except Joe Biagini.
It’s like his woes during the season with his teammates have extended into the offseason with people he’s never met before. Fortunately Jimmy Fallon invited Biagini back to make things right. Watch what happened:
If Biagini didn’t have a big following already (with a whole country of fans behind him), he certainly does now. The combination of athletic ability and sense of humour that he has mean he’ll be keeping things entertaining for the Blue Jays both on and off the field for years to come…
