In order to be a singer in a big rock band, you kinda have to be good at singing. It’s not necessarily a requirement, depending on what style of music you get into. I mean, if your band plays growly metal, it might not matter so much if you’re a good singer. But if you want to make it big, you gotta be able to stay on key.
And most of the biggest singers are great at that. They’ve got big powerful voices that never seem to miss a note.
So what if you took their songs and intentionally made all the vocals half a step out of tune?
Well, this happens:
Within seconds of starting that video, I’m in stitches. It’s amazing what one small shift can do to a song. Then again, I’ve always had a thing for people altering songs so they’re just off for comedic effect. For example, check out the best Smash Mouth covers you never wanted to hear HERE!
If you also found that hilarious, you’re in luck. There’s certainly no shortage of songs that have been given this treatment. Here’s some of my favourites:
And there’s more Rush toward the bottom!
How about a little more Queen? It worked great for We Are The Champions, so Bohemian Rhapsody must be amazing, right? Right.
And I did promise more Rush, so here you go: YYZ with the guitar track out of tune.
I’m half tempted now to put together a band that tours and plays all these songs, but with someone intentionally singing way out of key. You’d pay to see that, right?
