Welcome to another edition of Patchy’s (In)appropriate Instrumentals, where I share awesome covers of great songs done on strange instruments, or things that aren’t instruments at all.
This one’s a little different, because it’s two guys with guitars, and that’s not all that inappropriate, but the arrangement is totally different… and totally awesome.
Like I’m sure many people who weren’t around in the 70’s did, I first became familiar with Queen‘s masterpiece Bohemian Rhapsody from that scene in Wayne’s World.
I had heard the song before I saw the movie for the first time, I’m sure. Even still, to this day I can’t let it come on the radio without doing some sort of singalong in the car, and headbanging through that one part. It’s just what you gotta do!
If you need a refresher on what the whole song sounds like, though… Here you go:
And now the cover, done by a couple of guys from the UK who perform as ShowHawk Duo. Here they are performing their great take on Bohemian Rhapsody while busking in Bath, UK:
If one listen wasn’t enough for you, you’re in luck. You can see them perform it on a stage in this video, starting at the 10:45 mark. Also stay tuned after (or skip ahead to 18:29) for another great Queen cover, one of Don’t Stop Me Now.
And remember, until next time…
