Jack White formally of The White Stripes, Raconteurs, and founder of Third Man Records did something this past weekend that had never been done before… he was part of a project to play the first record in space. Jack White worked with engineer Kevin Carrico to have the the Icarus space craft built over the past 4 years. It was launched on Saturday, July 30, 2016 to celebrate the 7th anniversary of Third Man Records. The craft reached a height of 94, 413 feet while playing a gold plated disc containing Carl Sagan’s A Glorious Dawn recording on repeat. Check out the short edition video of the event below.
