Everybody loves watching things explode, right? Well… Everyone SHOULD love watching things explode – Okay, now I’m starting to sound like Michael Bay. Really though, as long as there’s no loss of life involved, explosions are pretty cool to watch… Which is why you’ll see so many people rubbernecking to get a better view in this video, which is an oldie but a goodie from Russia (where else?!).
According to Jalopnik, this crash actually happened about 3 years ago, in July 2013. There are plenty of angles of it too, because it seems just about everyone in Russia has a dashcam. That’s why we always see crazy stuff happening on the road over there. It’s not that it doesn’t happen anywhere else – Russians are just the best equipped to capture it with their webcams, which are there mainly to protect drivers against police and insurance fraud, which I understand is fairly widespread in Russia.
Anyway, like I said, there are plenty of angles of the crash. Here’s the original angle without any background music:
As you can see, that video doesn’t take you to the best part. Don’t worry, you can see the unedited video of all those explosions (and the people who don’t seem concerned at all about being hit by shrapnel) here. It’s also good if you want to hear the explosions without the AC/DC soundtrack:
There’s some more views of the accident and ensuing explosions, as well as some of the aftermath, here:
And here’s another view, from the other side of the highway. Skip to around 1:20 to get to the fire:
And then after firefighters were on the scene, there was at least one MORE explosion:
Somewhere, Michael Bay is raging that he didn’t have a camera crew there to capture the carnage for his next movie.
Kudos to Reddit user andersoonasd for finding additional angles and sharing them.
