Well it’s official now – Peterborough city hall has voted in favour of requiring cat owners to keep their cats on their own property or on leashes… Which basically means now that a lot of outdoor cats are going to become indoor cats… Because cats don’t like to be kept on leashes.
I personally have no opinion on this particular matter, as I’m not a cat owner and have no neighbours with annoying cats that bother me. But I can see both sides of the argument. On one hand, residents are tired of finding cat feces in their yards, watching cats capture their favourite songbirds, and having cats keep them awake all night. On the other hand, cat owners who let their pets run free have likely become accustomed to the ease with which they can care for their cats. Feed ’em now and then, give them a place to sleep, and let them run free the rest of the time.
At any rate, I don’t think most people are going to have an easy time teaching their cats to walk… Because as the folks at Buzzfeed recently showed, cat’s don’t like leashes.
Maybe you’ll be one of the lucky ones who can train their cat to walk on a leash, but if not… You could always take your cat out for a drag, I guess?
