You’ve heard of a public library where you can borrow books…soon in Ptbo we’ll have a tool library. (Organizers expect to open the doors on the May long weekend.)
The Peterborough Tool Library will be located on High St. behind the Evinrude Centre. Members will be able to borrow from a selection of hundreds of tools for the home and garden for a $50 annual membership fee. Tool library members will receive buying discounts at local businesses including Merrett Home Hardware.
The idea being…there may be tools you need from time to time – a power saw, a level, a drill or a socket set. You will be able to borrow tools that you wouldn’t necessarily buy because you either don’t have room to store them or it’s something you’d only use once or twice.
The Ptbo Tool Library will be a not for profit business, taking the money they make from memberships to help with the tool inventory and upkeep.
They’re seeking donations of tools from the community. Donated tools can be dropped off April 16 at The Spill, 414 George St. N, from 3 to 6 pm.
Organizers will also be at the Peterborough Farmer’s Market this Saturday to meet interested members and talk about the library.
Oragainers have launched an online Indiegogo Crowdfunding Campaign selling memberships to get the ball rolling.
