The NBA All Star Game will be taking place in Toronto this year, with the Air Canada Centre hosting festivities on February 14th. Not surprisingly, Kobe Bryant led all players in All-Star Votes, garnering nearly 1.9 million of ’em.
Raptors fans also got in on the voting, and got enough votes in to get Raps’ point guard Kyle Lowry a spot on the hardwood for tipoff. It’s the second year in a row that Lowry’s performance has earned him a starting role in the All Star Game – with CBS Sports even calling him the Eastern Conference’s best guard.
Here’s a sample of his work, a 40-point performance from this past October:
Yep, the fans here love him, and how could you not?
Last night, he showed just another reason why he’s a fan favourite.

If you’ve ever had the great fortune of sitting courtside at an NBA game, you know that you constantly need to keep your head on a swivel, because you never know when some 6’8″ dude is going to be literally jumping on you in pursuit of a ball. In this case, Lowry is a little smaller, at only 6’0″, but it still can’t feel that great having him pile on top of you.
He understands this, and so when it happened last night, he apologized in a rather sweet way:
Just a quick little smooch on the forehead, and then back into the game. You can see she wasn’t too upset to begin with (she gets the whole courtside seat thing), but the kiss seems to really brighten her day.
Yeah, it’s not hard to see why this guy is an All-Star Game starter.
