There have been a few times where I’d wished I had some sort of security camera set up outside my house. Like many in Peterborough, I’ve been the victim of lowlife scumbags getting into my car and rifling through my belongings on multiple occasions. It’s stupid, because of the 5 or 6 times this has happened, there are at least 3 where the culprit didn’t even take anything. What the hell is the point? Skip past the change in the ashtray, pull everything out of the glovebox and leave it all on the floor, and leave without taking a thing. It’s almost like they just want you to know that they’ve been going through your stuff.
Every time this happens, naturally, I’m irate. Last time, I even started trying to think up ideas for how I could catch the culprit and get my revenge. I even thought about leaving a fiver on the driver’s seat with the door unlocked and waiting around the corner with a Louisville Slugger, but that would most likely be a waste of my time. Even if I did manage to catch anyone and take out my rage on them, I’d probably end up being the one getting charged anyway. Funny how law around here works.
However, if I’d had a security camera set up, I would have at least been able to see who’s been going through my stuff. Peterborough resident Chris Adlam is pretty smart for having one set up on his front porch. It didn’t stop this criminal from stealing things from him, but at least the community now has an idea of what he looks like.

Nice getup on the guy, eh? If you notice the date in the top left corner, you’ll see that this went down at 3 AM Saturday morning, which means this guy was probably on his way home from a halloween party. Maybe he thought he wouldn’t be able to make it home and needed a place to rest along the way, and this Muskoka chair seemed like the perfect thing to kick back in. Just not here.
As you’ll see in the video below, it’s kind of funny actually. At first he tries to be graceful about it, but then just gives zero f***s as he grabs the chair and drags with it the child’s scooter that’s wedged inside it.
Here’s the video:
PtboCanada.com accurately described this guy as a Burglar King, since his cape and crown make him look a little bit like Burger King’s mascot…
Though the one thing he seems to be missing (which would have probably helped him a bit) is the mask.
I’m not complaining, though. In fact, I’m glad this guy’s face was caught on camera… Because since this post went up, it’s been shared about 5,000 times on Facebook.
Mr. Adlam wants his chair back (naturally), so if you know who this lowlife is, please get in touch with police!
