Video games are one of the best modern ways to kill time. But if you ask this dad, all they are is a WASTE of time.
Watch what dad does when he’s had enough of his son playing video games instead of looking for a job.

I love how the kid plans to make a career out of gaming. I think my personal favourite part is at 1:12 when he hurls his Xbox controller at the ground and yells “I’M REALLY F***ING GOOD AT IT!”
Making a career out of gaming is a lofty goal on this young man’s part, though it’s not completely unheard of. I went to college with a guy who was a competitive gamer. He got paid for going toWorld of Warcraft tournaments and playing.
Another example: A few years back, one of my cousins went to a gaming convention in Calgary. While he was there, he met this young man from Japan who is apparently well known (famous among these folks, even) as the best Street Fighter player in the world. He had his own room set up in the hotel and there were constantly people coming in and paying money to have him kick their asses. I’m assuming they all bet that they’d beat him and he spanked them mercilessly.

It seems like both parties are being maybe a little bit ridiculous. On one hand, I see the dad’s point. He points out in the video that the young man has student loans, car payments and insurance which all cost money. Without a job, mom and dad must be paying that for him while he hangs out and plays video games. The credit at the bank of Dad is not limitless, that’s for sure.
However, it seems like a pretty cruel punishment to run over his games with a lawnmower. I mean, take them away, hide them somewhere if it helps you sleep at night, but this young man is not wrong when he says destroying the games (which he spent hundreds of dollars on) doesn’t achieve anything.
But I don’t know this particular family or what the dynamics there are so who am I to say what’s right and what’s wrong? And ultimately I’m glad it happened because the reaction is pretty amusing.
What would you have done in the father’s position?
