Ever made a Freudian slip?
If you’re not familiar with the term, here’s a definition:
(in Freudian psychology) an inadvertent mistake in speech or writing that is thought to reveal a person’s unconscious motives, wishes or attitudes.
Working in radio, I generally have to be pretty careful what I say when the mic is on. I don’t want to make myself sound like a fool. It still happens from time to time, though.
For example, Tom Petty:

I can think of at least two occasions where I’ve referred to him as Tom Potty live on air. It’s not something I do intentionally, it just accidentally happens from time to time.
Yesterday, I had another pretty good Freudian slip on air, coming out of Pat Benatar’s Hit Me With Your Best Shot.
Can you guess what I said? Have a listen.
Yes, I said “Hit me with your best shart” on live radio. And some of you heard it too. I even got a message on facebook hours after it happened from a gentleman saying that his kids were still signing “Hit me with your best shart,” and that it would not get old anytime soon. It definitely seemed worthy of a remix, which is tacked on at the end there.
The remix was definitely inspired by a little golden nugget I found on the internet: Rock Around The Cock, also definitely worth a listen!
Have you had any memorable slip-ups lately?
