Greetings to The Wolf Pack!
Well it’s hard to believe, but the day has finally arrived when I can say that I’m part of one of the greatest rock stations on the planet. It’s been a long time coming, and after spending over a decade in my home town of Oshawa, it’s so great to begin this new and exciting chapter with you here in Peterborough. I felt it’s only right to use my first blog post as somewhat of an introduction, and an attempt to fill the loyal Wolf audience in on just who Matt Diamond really is.
First and foremost as I’m sure any one of you can appreciate, it’s pretty scary stepping into a brand new job, but also filling in the shoes of another beloved radio personality who has been with you for a number of years. Let me start by saying that I won’t ever try to be anyone but myself. We all have our own styles and the way we do things, but what you hear on the airwaves, always is, and has always been the real me. I’m a music lover first, a family man, a musician, and a true believer in the power of Rock Radio. Not only does it bring us together each day, but it also allows us to share our passion for that thing that gets our blood pumping. That energy that can start day off right, and also tuck you in at night with big smile on your face… Rock and Roll. There’s nothing like it, and it’s the reason I got into this industry.
I love talking about music, I love playing it on my guitar, and there’s nothing I love more than bringing home a brand new record, unwrapping it, cracking a cold beer, and dropping the needle on a fresh piece of wax. Music is a universal love that we all share in one way, shape or another. I value my audience as family members, and although I’ve been a listener of this station for years, I know what it’s like to deal with the “new guy” on your beloved home town frequency. Never will I act like I can waltz into your home and kick my feet up with the regulars. That is something that is earned, and the only thing that I will ever ask, is that you allow me some time to get comfortable, and to earn your trust and respect. I promise you will not be disappointed.
In closing, I’d like to mention that I keep an open door policy with my audience. The phone lines are always open, as is my email account, Facebook and Twitter accounts, and if you’d ever like to swing by the station to shake my hand, I’d be honored. I love listening to new music too of course, so if you’re in a band and want to share your art with me, then I’ll gladly listen to anything you’ve got. Let’s get to know each other, and enjoy this new journey together. I’m excited already, and thank you for allowing me into your lives each afternoon.
