When I was a young boy, I was involved in Scouts Canada. Scouting was a whole lot of fun, and taught me some skills that I still use to this day. One of the most important things it taught me, however, was to “Be Prepared.” That is the Scout’s Motto, after all.
Being prepared for disaster doesn’t automatically guarantee your survival, but it will give you a fighting chance when it strikes. However, a Zombie Apocalypse is no normal disaster. It’s not as simple as stockpiling food and water and basic necessities. You need to be prepared with ways to defend yourself from wave after wave of infected people trying to eat your brain.
If you don’t have a concrete Zombie Apocalypse plan, don’t worry. You’re far from the only one. One thing that is kind of comforting is the fact that the Canadian government seems to have some sort of a plan…
And at least one Wolf listener has a plan…
There are TONS of resources all over the internet on how to help your chances of survival should a Zombie Apocalypse ever happen. For example, here’s a Zombie Survival Guide from Instructables.com.
But since we’ve never had a Zombie Apocalypse before, it’s hard to say how it will affect our infrastructure. Will the power be cut? Will we lose our access to the internet? We don’t know, and that’s when having a paperback comes in handy. Don’t worry, there’s one of those out there too.

These are good sources of information, but you have to take the information from that and learn to apply it yourself, which is not necessarily an easy thing to do for everyone. Sometimes it helps to have a teacher. Fortunately, there are teachers nearby.

Zombie Survival Camp is “Canada’s First Zombie Survival Training Camp.” What can you expect there? From their website:
It is our mission to help make Canada the most Zombie prepared nation on Earth. This camp will bring together and elevate Canada’s zombie survivalists to new levels of preparation.
…But the camp isn’t just for the avid zombie enthusiast. It’s for anyone who wants to spend an exhilarating and challenging weekend being educated and entertained. Great for couples, families, friends and especially workplace team building.
While there, participants learn tons of skills, including: Hand-to-hand combat, archery, weapons, basic survival skills, leadership, etc. Also, you get to take part in a simulated zombie outbreak where you can put your skills to the test and see how long you can survive.
These camps happen a few times throughout the year, and there is a session coming up very soon. The next one takes place June 20-22 in Bancroft.
You can find all the info you need, as well as get registered at www.zombiesurvivalcamp.ca.
Stay safe out there, friends!
