Mosquitoes are baaaad this time of year, and if you’re one of those people who seems to attract those little buggers more than other people, well you probably do.
An estimated 20 percent of people get bit more often, and scientists think these could be the reasons why.
Certain blood types are more delicious than others. One study found that mosquitoes landed on people with Type O blood nearly twice as often as those with Type A. People with Type B blood fell somewhere in the middle.
Bet you didn’t know mosquitoes can detect carbon dioxide from as far as 164 feet away. So if you’re a mouth-breather, shut yer yap.

Mosquitoes are also attracted to the scent of lactic acid, uric acid, ammonia and other substances expelled through sweat. Hit the showers.
Ever wondered why mosquitoes are more attracted to your ankles and feet? It’s because there are usually more bacteria colonies there. And guess what? Mosquitoes like dat.
Mosquitoes also like beer. Just like you! And just a single 12-ounce bottle of beer can make you more attractive to the insects.
Pregnant women have been found to attract roughly twice as many mosquito bites as others.
Not to be the fashion police here, but certain colours make it easier for those buggers to find you. Try to avoid wearing black, red or dark blue.
If this is your problem. You’re effed.
THE GOOD NEWS IS that I think we may have found a cheap and easy solution for fending mosquitoes off, and it’s something you can grab with your morning (or afternoon) coffee. This morning we got a couple of calls from listeners who say they use cup trays. They put them in a metal bucket and burn ’em.
I’m not sure what’s in them that deters mosquitoes (and I’m not sure if I want to know) but you’d better believe I will be burning this weekend!
