To help prevent drunk-driving, dance club Zouk in Singapore has installed a high-tech urinal that will be able to detect if the user has had a few too many drinks.
It’s a gadget that for the first time, could detect alcohol in urine”. It’s called ‘The Pee Analyzer’… an innovative anti-drunk driving campaign.
Male club-goers who drive would receive a special parking pass when they drop their cars off at the valet. When the driver goes to use the urinal, a sensor on the wall detects the special pass in their pocket and then the sensor in the urinal then tests their urine for alcohol. If they’re approaching the legal limit or have exceeded it, a message appears on the screen. That warning is then stored in their parking pass.
When picking up their cars, the parking pass would be scanned by the valet—those who have consumed too much alcohol would be asked to take a cab or use the club’s drive-home service.
While the Pee Analyzer has been very successful during its two-week trial, I wonder if the club is planning on doing something similar about female club-goers who drive.
